PSYCHOTHERAPY OF ADOLESCENTS

Psychotherapy of adolescents, similarly to psychotherapy with adults, is mostly a talk-therapy, during which a young person is talking of things important to him, or her. In the process of psychotherapy I support the teenager in understanding difficult changes, tensions or frustrations, that he or she may experience, and I help with naming the emotions that are often hard to understand. Therapeutic meetings bring about relief and help young people to improve their coping skills that they need in their everyday life.

While working with adolescents, I also employ additional techniques, utilizing drawings or another artistic forms. Depending on needs, the psychotherapy of adolescents includes consultations with parents, and their psychoeducation, that serves to perfect their educational competences. Therapeutic meetings usually take place once a week, unless more often meetings are advisable. One session lasts for 45 to 50 minutes.
